The film tells the story of Bao Longxing (played by Peng Yushu ) , an upright and honest “Nine-grade Sesame Official” during the Qing Dynasty , who went to Beijing to file a lawsuit in order to overturn an unjust case. He experienced being forced into desperate situations, but always had the determination to rebound and the will to never give up. Faith, and finally succeeded in seeking justice for Pang Xiaorou ( played by Lin Yanrou ), catching all the thieves, and harvesting the story of friendship and true love
